The European Parliament and the Council have reached a provisional agreement on the Nature Recovery Act, which aims to restore 20% of the EU's land and seas by 2030 and all degraded ecosystems by 2050.

This law is aligned with the COP15 targets and the EU Biodiversity Strategy. Member States will develop national recovery plans in collaboration with local communities. Ecosystem restoration is essential for resilience to natural disasters and food security. Degradation of nature remains a critical challenge.
