Ozone layer continues to recover, but the strange behavior surprises scientists

While the ozone layer is recovering, with expectations of full restoration by 2066, its recent behavior has scientists confused.

This year, the hole over Antarctica appeared later than usual due to unusual stratospheric warming in July, creating a smaller hole than expected.

Despite these anomalies, the latest data show that the ozone layer remains on a healing trajectory, with forecasts anticipating recovery by 2040 in the rest of the world and 2045 in the Arctic.

The Montreal Protocol, which banned destructive chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), has been instrumental in reversing decades of damage.

However, high temperatures and unexpected phenomena in the atmosphere generate uncertainty.

Despite optimistic projections, the situation has left the scientific community on alert, while the planet continues to face one of the greatest environmental challenges.
